Who We Are

The 180 Ranch, a nonprofit startup organization, was formed in April of 2019 by David B. Jones, originally from Llano, TX, and wife Gayla, originally from Mason, TX. David lived in a world of addiction for 22 years.

Our 15 Year Journey

On October 5, 2005 David turned his life around (did a 180) with the help of Jesus, family, and friends. As a result, and the finding of his calling, in 2006 he and his lifelong friend Pastor Jacky Stephenson, along with Gayla, opened and ran  the South Texas Glory Ranch, a basic faith-based cowboy drug rehab in South Texas. Over 20 men completed the program. In early 2008  it became apparent that more knowledge was needed to run a robust and successful nonprofit rehab and the doors closed on the Glory Ranch.  David and Gayla began looking for  new direction.  While searching, one of David’s friends suggested he look at a facility in Brenham, TX.  David and Gayla set up a tour of the facility, which was a boy’s ranch for at-risk youth teenagers. The 18 bed, 325 acre facility, Miracle Farm, gave every boy a horse and taught him how to team rope. The moment they stepped foot on the property, they knew they were home. David grew up in the rodeo/team roping world and it continues to play a major role in his life. Miracle Farm was a perfect fit. David and Gayla took a position at Miracle Farm as house parents to 6 teenage boys and realized their purpose at the time was to help keep those boys from getting to the point where David got during his addiction. While at Miracle Farm David also served as the head of the roping program, did development work through fund raising, and organized several fund-raising team ropings throughout the year that brought Pros as well as amateurs to experience Miracle Farm.

Taking all the experience and knowledge David and Gayla gained from working with youth from hard places, they knew the time had come to circle back around to the original vision of an adult cowboy drug rehab. With an excitedness to heed the call, yet also a heavy heartedness to leave the place they loved, David and Gayla took the leap of faith and stepped out in pursuit of opening another drug rehab; 180 Ranch.  Their last day at Miracle Farm was in April of 2019. With the full and enthusiastic blessing of Miracle Farm, David and Gayla are now committed to the full-time  job of  making the 180 Ranch a reality. They moved to South Texas; back to the exact place they first started the dream of having a rehab more than 13 years ago. Their connection to the church, Christian Faith Center in Dilley, TX (Pastor Jacky Stephenson) never faded. The church is filled with strong men who share similar stories to David’s.   The safe community that bond creates is essential to the success of future men coming through 180 Ranch doors.

David and Gayla continue to have a strong relationship with Miracle Farm. It is their belief that God used their time at Miracle Farm as a training ground for this next journey. The need for strong father figures is more prevalent now than ever in this current society; as David and Gayla experienced firsthand at Miracle Farm while working with struggling boys. It is their hope that the 180 Ranch will serve as a place of healing for not only the cowboys, but for their families as well.
